Looking Back at 3303

As of this afternoon, my wife and I are no longer home owners. We fought back tears as we handed the keys off to the new owner. We think the home is in good hands, and are certain the new owners will love it as much as we have for the past 5 years.

We’ve done a lot of work on the place since Melanie bought it back in 2006 (a.k.a. “the height of the housing bubble”). I thought it would be fun to post some pictures we took on the first day Melanie moved in (and a couple shortly thereafter), and compare them with photos taken from the same vantage point on our way out of the house for the last time. Here are some before-and-afters:

We had some good times in that house, and there’s been a lot of work along the way. We aren’t the most skilled craftspeople around, but I think we left the place in better condition than when we arrived.

So Long, 3303…

Wow! I’m glad I could see the comparison pictures all together. You guys did some great work!

  • Amazing job you two! You made some fantastic improvements to that house. You shouldn’t be so humble about your skills and abilities 🙂 Thanks for showing us the before and after shots. They are so fun to look at!

Congrats on the sale and good luck on the new home!

  • It’s amazing the see the changes! I remember the house so well, so it’s sad to think of you guys leaving it. I’m excited to see your new place, though!

  • WOW… The house looks amazing! I love these before and after pictures and cannot believe what you guys have done with the place. I’ve been following your blog, but to see it all in one place… wow.

What I’m still wondering is: What prompted the move? More space? Better location? Are you planning renovations on the “new” house or is it newer than this one?

  • It is my complete dream to own a house so that I’m able to remodel. You guys did a phenomenal job! Looks great!
