World’s Largest Hockey Stick

Mel and I are always driving past the city if Eveleth, MN, which claims to have the world’s largest hockey stick. We usually don’t stop, but today we were in no hurry on our way back to the cities from a weekend trip to Mel’s parents. So we decided to stop and see what all the fuss was about. We can’t confirm that it is, in fact, the world’s largest hockey stick… but it was pretty big.
We wanted someone to take a picture of the two of us in front of it, but couldn’t find anybody.  Despite being located on Main Street in downtown Eveleth, the place was empty.  So we took pictures of each other.

As fun as a giant hockey stick can be, we got a much bigger kick out of what we found across the street.  Marge’s Liquor Store was still displaying their life size nativity in March.  I’m not sure why, but this photo cracks us up.  I think it’s because the nativity is on the balcony.

I just can't believe there was no one to take a picture for you in the well-known, thriving metropolis of Eveleth! Stillwater was on our list of things to see, but we didn't make it. Looks like fun!
