Test Ride to Work

I made a test ride to work this morning. I left home at 7:10 a.m. when the temperature was 5 degrees. I took a wrong turn and followed the trail halfway around the wrong lake, so I had to backtrack a little bit. I finally arrived at work at 7:55.

Total Trip Time: 45 minutes.

The trip home was a little quicker. I didn’t take any wrong turns, and I had a Superman moment on the Midtown Greenway. I was pedaling along, toiling under the pains of this kryptonite-like cold weather, when all of a sudden, the sun was finally high enough to shine down into the greenway. Instantly the air seemed to warm up. I soaked up the sunlight and used my new-found super-human strength to power through to the end of my ride. For a moment, I thought I was riding fast enough to actually spin the earth backwards in time. When I arrived home, however, I found that wasn’t the case. I arrived home at 8:35 a.m.

Total Trip Time: 40 minutes.

I’m hoping I can speed that up when it’s not so dang cold. I didn’t ride the new blue bike because of the recent snowfall. I rode the old relible Big Red (a.k.a. the Ultimate Commuter Vehicle or UCV), my heavy and slow, but realiable mountain bike.
